Continuation of 💋 *Kiss of Betrayal* 😔
_Ahh! Tiwa! Olaitan cheated on me with Tiwatope._
Heart hammering, tears streaming, Derinsola's mind raced 20years back, when herself and Tiwatope were at a birthday party. Two handsome guys came over to them and asked for a dance. The one that paired with her introduced himself as Babatunde while the other guy with Tiwatope was Olaitan. Unlike Olaitan’s slow steps that was almost going off beat, Babatunde along with Derinsola rocked the music with some crazy dance moves that flowed so well as though they had rehearsed together. Tiwatope danced over to the duo and craftily displaced Derinsola. Derinsola who didn’t mind, went over to Olaitan and danced with him. After the dance, both pair got talking. The guys were also close friends like the ladies. The encounter didn’t end at the occasion, it went on after. Olaitan showed interest in Derinsola, and Babatunde in Tiwatope. Both couple dated differently on occasion. Babatunde, who was only fun-seeking, tried playing between the two friends. He got bored and moved on after he made sexual advances at Derinsola and was turned down. ‘ _Birds of a feather flock together’,_ Derinsola didn’t expect anything different from Olaitan. She was surprised when he stuck on to her like catchweed.
From her expressions, Tiwatope envied the love the two shared. She nursed the thought that Olaitan found her first.
From dating to courting on and on, Olaitan and Derinsola made it to the altar with Tiwatope as the chief bride's maid. Few months after, Tiwatope traveled to the united states and communication dwindled between them. But they often got together whenever she was in the country.
To Derinsola, it all looked like Tiwatope had come to usurp her from her place like she did years back.
As the gathering dispersed, she wasn’t surprised as she watched her and her son being greeted by her husband’s relatives.
Six months later, the family gathered for the hearing of the deceased’s Will. This should have been done a month earlier, but for Tiwatope, who was delivered of another boy. Present was Derinsola and her five daughters, her mother-in-law; Chief Mrs. Daniels, her sister-in-law; Bolatito, her brother-in-law; Jerome, and a Lawyer. The gathering was naturally halved; Chief Mrs. Daniels, Bolatito with Tiwatope's baby boy on her laps and Tiwatope, were on one side, while Derinsola, her five daughters and Jerome were on the other side. In-between was the Lawyer.
Jerome’s allegiance to Derinsola and her daughters can be understood. He once asked Tiwatope out, but was refused. So with animosity towards her for preferring his married brother to him, he chose to pitch his tent with the other side.
All ears were raptly tuned to the deep voice of the lawyer, as he read aloud from a filed document. The house at Allen Avenue, Ikeja was to go to Derinsola and her daughters, while the one at Lekki phase1 to belong to Tiwatope and her son. For the monthly income at swifty telecommunication company, after the workers' salary and any incurred expenses had been cleared, 5% was to go to his aged mother, 5 to Tiwatope, 35 for his son's upkeep; who will own the company when he has come of age, 10 to Derinsola and the remaining 45% to be shared equally amongst the remaining children.
Derinsola was still feeling slighted it was the other woman who was willed a property in a choice area and for the percentage left to be shared amongst her 5daughters, when Tiwatope spoke up that her baby boy also belonged to the deceased and so has a right to whatever was allocated to the other children.
And like two fighting mother hens, both women attacked each other verbally.
“That can’t be! My husband told me of just one mistaken conception with a loose slut.”
“Haa haa haa! Mistaken indeed, is it my fault he found me a better woman, and after I met his heart desire once, he decided to give it another trial?”
“You betraying backstabber, Olaitan was never interested in you, you must have seduced him.”
“How are you sure of that? By the way, he found me first, before you snatched him. Remember?”
“Liar! He never liked you from day one.”
“Was it not me he first….,”
“Quiet you two!” broke in Chief Mrs. Daniels, “ how can you prove the child is not ours? After all, my son is no more to speak for himself. By the way, how could he have lived long in the midst of 6witches? Derinsola, you had better be contented with what you got. Left to me, you would be left nothing, save our name. Nonsense!” she sealed her words with a long trail of hiss.
Derinsola wasn’t surprised at her mother-in-law, who never drew back at wielding her hateful tongue at her at any opportunity. Lost for words, she broke down in tears. Her daughters joined in and crescendoed the wail. She accepted her lots.
3months Later, all issue had settled, except on Derinsola’s mind. As she laid on the couch one evening, she tried shutting out her thoughts so she could get some rest but couldn’t. All of a sudden, she sat up straight when something struck her; Olaitan spent the last 6months of his life on a hospital bed, Tiwatope had an obvious, protruded belly at his funeral, she put to bed 5months after.
She felt the best person to pour out her troubles to, was Jerome, so she invited him over. He reasoned with her as expected.
“Derinsola, who else have you talked to?”
“No one else.”
“Good. Tell nobody about it, just leave the matter to me, I will get to the root of it.”
“Should we take it to court?”
“I said you should tell no one about it!” snapped Jerome.
“Okay, I won’t.” Derinsola could feel the hot air of anger, mixed with hatred that oozed from him
As he left, She hoped he wouldn’t do anything stupid.
Week 1,2,3 after, Derinsola heard nothing from Jerome, she grew anxious and dialled his mobile number. It rang many times but he didn’t pick. Unable to bottle-in the issue any longer, she decided to ask a lawyer for legal advice. She was scrolling through her phone for the family lawyer’s contact when the doorbell rang. She opened to find two policemen who introduced themselves as officers from Elemoro police division, Lekki. They had been sent to bring her in for interrogation. She demanded why, but got not even a hint. She got to the station and knew she was in deep shit when she saw Jerome standing by, looking battered and Tiwatope seated before the District Police Officer(DPO), looking a caricature of herself with her bruised face and her casted right leg.
